2025 Honda Accord Review

Like the smaller Civic family of cars, the Accord mid-size sedan is a glorious Honda heritage model that dates back to the 1970s. Over the years, it’s been available as a hatchback and a two-door coupe, but the current 11th-generation model sticks to the tried-and-true four-door rubric. Its longtime rivals include the Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima.

The Accord is redesigned for 2023 with improved architecture, a more powerful hybrid powertrain, a cleaner and smoother fuel model, and updated technology. The mid-size sedan rolls into 2024 unchanged and receives an SE trim for 2025.

Although the mid-size sedan class is more relaxed than it once was, the Honda Accord remains the leader, albeit a little less attractive than before. Although our test team found the turbo-four CVT sluggish, both available powertrains provide smooth acceleration.

The steering feels very good, the braking inspires confidence, and the handling is neutral and predictable. The ride quality is excellent on smaller wheels, but the cabin has more wind and road noise than most Accord models.

2025 Honda Accord Refresh

At first glance, the overall shape looks very similar to the current Accord. Sweeping lines with long, sloping roofs remain the order of the day. Thus, the sedan’s bones could be carried over to a new generation, but everything front and rear will be new.

It’s easy to see the slimmer headlights flanking the slightly larger grille overall. A clear bumper separates the grille from the opening in the lower fascia, and the hood looks flatter. The front overhang of the front wheel appears shorter, too.

Moving to the rear, we think the current model’s C-shaped taillights and reflectors will give it a slimmer lens. The carved body on the trunk lid resembles today’s Accord, but it could be a fake panel designed to confuse curious onlookers.

We can see more faux panels on the doors, so while this prototype appears to be sporting a basic camouflage wrap, some trickery is underneath.

We can see the sedan’s proportions haven’t changed much, if at all. The wheelbase looks the same, and if the next-gen Accord does feature the current platform, at least some of the engine options will likely carry over. Currently, you can own the Accord with a choice of turbocharged four-cylinder engines, starting with a 1.5-liter engine that produces 192 horsepower.

2025 Accord Specs

The specifications presented by the 2025 Honda Accord Sport-L feature a hybrid powertrain. It works well in everyday driving to maximize fuel efficiency without sacrificing performance.

Our 2025 Honda Accord Sport-L accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds, about a second faster than most rival mid-size hybrid sedans. This Powertrain does not have a transmission like usual. Still, Honda has cleverly programmed it to match engine rpm to provide the familiar gear-shifting experience of a traditional automatic transmission.

In terms of handling and steering, the Accord has enough grip when cornering but lacks the natural athleticism known in previous Accords.

New Honda Accord Engine

The current Accord is known for adopting Honda’s new VTEC Turbo engine, which will also be available in the next generation. For the base 2024 Accord, you still have 1.5 liters, although power should be increased from 192 to 200 hp. Meanwhile, the 2.0L Turbo, which has won all those races, is nominally rated at 252 horsepower. They tested the model because it had a split exhaust and front intercooler (see video).

Honda has stated that it intends to make hybrids a larger share of the sales representation of the next-generation Accord, as the company wants about half of its total sales to be hybrids on popular models such as the CR-V, Civic, and Accord. In terms of handling and steering, the Accord is still the best at cornering well but lacks the inherent athleticism of the previous Accord.

We expect the 2025 Honda Accord Sport to be updated with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that produce 204 horsepower and is the only Powertrain available on the Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Touring variants. During our testing, the Accord Hybrid hit 60 mph in 6.5 seconds.

It provides a comfortable ride over broken pavement, but wind and road noise are essential—a little extra insulation would do wonders for the car. The steering looks more dynamic than the previous generation vehicle. Braking is easy to control, but the pedal is a bit depressed.

This is one of the more elegant-looking Accord cabins in recent memory. The switchgear layout is ideal, and the large 12.3-inch touchscreen is wildly appreciated. It’s spacious, too, although headroom in the back is limited due to the car’s sloping roof. Luggage space is also sufficient.

In some areas, the new Accord is still inferior to its predecessor. It’s not as fast as previous generation vehicles. Some options are only available with the top Touring model. And not everyone likes this external design. Nonetheless, the 2025 Accord Hybrid will likely remain the best gas-electric mid-size sedan on the market.

Performance

The Accord Hybrid’s 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline-four and lockup-clutch automatic transmission with integrated motors are expected to return in 2025. The output may alter but will remain at 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. These Accords, like the petrol counterparts, have front-wheel drive.

It is faster than competitors due to the tremendous torque from the Powertrain. The Toyota Camry Hybrid may have more horsepower, but the Honda car has an 84 lb-ft torque advantage. This allows it to reach 60 mph from a stop in 6.6 seconds, 0.8 seconds faster than the Camry Hybrid.

Fuel Economy

If it sits on smaller 17-inch wheels, the entry-level Accord Hybrid EX-L could get more excellent fuel economy—51/44 mpg city/highway—than the Sport, Sport-L, and Touring trims on 19-inch wheels. These are rated at 46/41 mpg city/highway and can go up to 563 miles on a full tank. The Accord Hybrid EX-L can travel up to 614 miles when topped off.

As impressive as those figures appear, the 2024 Camry Hybrid’s ratings are mostly higher—51/53 mpg city/highway for the LE with 16-inch wheels and 44/47 mpg city/highway for the SE, XLE, and XSE on 18s and 19s. Additionally, the Camry Hybrid has a 13.2-gallon tank, which is 0.4 gallons larger than the Accord Hybrid. The Camry Hybrid LE has a range of 686 miles on a full tank, compared to 607 miles for the SE, XLE, and XSE models.

2025 Honda Accord Interior

The 2025 Honda Accord has a back-to-basics interior with a simple center stack and large, simple buttons and knobs. Learning curves are almost nonexistent, and that’s what we want to see in a car with mass appeal.

With large door openings, getting in and out of the car is easy, although taller passengers must be mindful of the sloping roofline when entering the rear seats. Taller rear passengers will also like the headliner, but overall space in both rows, including ample legroom, is excellent.

The view from the driver’s seat is not obstructed by large blind spots thanks to the thin windshield pillars and large rear window. However, we needed help seeing the full-size cluster. Raising the driver’s seat too high may be a problem for drivers of short stature.

Comfort

The 2025 Honda Accord does an excellent job of preventing unwanted noise from entering the cabin. Like other Honda vehicles, the driver’s seat in the Accord could use more cushioning, but it has enough adjustability that almost everyone is comfortable when behind the wheel. The climate system is more than adequate for heating or cooling the car.

The 19-inch wheels on the 2025 Honda Accord model speak to its exceptional ride quality. It absorbed large bumps and bruises without issue and kept composure throughout our use. We’re willing to bet that the EX-L trim and its smaller wheels will do even better.

Storage

The 2025 Honda Accord offers 16.7 cubic feet of space; there’s plenty of room in the trunk for all your stuff. Even long items like golf bags can fit without any hassle at all.

The center console is spacious, with enough surface area to swallow small objects. There are cup holders wherever you want them, and they can fit larger water bottles with high sidewalls to keep them in place.

The rear seats are spacious enough to fit several car seats, and the LATCH points are easy to see without anything covering them. The only issue that may arise during installation is the low roofline.

Technology

The 2025 Honda Accord with a 12.3-inch touchscreen displays a crisp view and features wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Honda offers Google voice assistant and service integration, but only in the top touring trim.

And despite being equipped with a fuel tank that’s two gallons smaller than gasoline models, all hybrids can go farther on an entire tank-89 miles farther for Sport and Touring trims and 140 miles farther for the EX-L.

So, the Accord ranges from an EPA-estimated 32 mpg combined for base engine models to 48 mpg combined for hybrids with smaller 17-inch wheels. We tested the Accord Sport-L, which has larger 19-inch wheels and a combined estimate of 44 mpg, and recorded 41.5 mpg on our real-world evaluation route. That’s slightly below the EPA figure and what we got from other mid-size hybrids on the same road, but this is still a pretty efficient sedan overall.
