2024 Honda HRV after running eight model years, the first-generation HR-V will be replaced by a redesigned 2023 version to better compete with similar models from Hyundai, Kia, Chevrolet and others.
The previous HR-V was based on the retired subcompact Fit hatchback, so the 2023 model switches to the larger Civic platform. That means more interior space and a bigger engine with more power: a 158 horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a continuously variable transmission.
As before, all-wheel-drive is optional. As a utility note, the flip-up rear seat cushion will no longer be available. This provides additional storage height for items placed on the floor.
2024 Honda HRV Review
After being introduced as a completely redesigned model for the 2023 model year, the 2024 Honda HR-V is expected to be the default model. A complete redesign ushered in the second generation of the HR-V. We don’t expect Honda to make any design changes to the HR-V for 2024. The current SUV sports a more modern look than the previous generation, with sleek headlamps, a neat oval grille and sharp body lines on the front fascia.
The rear of the SUV features triangular taillights that wrap around the sides of the body, a rounded rear liftgate and a small rear spoiler. The HR-V has solid body cladding at the bottom of the body.
The interior design of the 2024 Honda HR-V is not expected to change for the upcoming model year. The SUV is similar in design to Honda’s recently redesigned vehicle with a simple dashboard design, intuitive physical controls on the center console, and trim pieces that hide the air vents across almost the entire width of the dashboard.
Standard technological features on the current HR-V include a seven-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four audio speakers, three USB ports and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster. Available features include a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone compatibility, wireless charging pad, eight-speaker sound system, and satellite radio. These features will continue to be available until 2024.
In terms of performance, the HR-V is currently powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 158 hp. The engine is connected to a continuously variable automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available. Honda should offer the 2024 HR-V with the same powertrain.
Honda isn’t expected to make any changes to the 2024 HR-V’s list of safety features. The SUV currently has automatic emergency braking, collision warning, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and warning tracking as standard. and automatic high beam assistant. Available features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic warning and parking sensors.

2024 Honda HRV Redesign
Honda HR-V 2024 Featured in Winter Sketch. The redesigned subcompact SUV that will go on sale in the US this year looks different from the hybrid version of the European market.
Honda’s blanketed mystery picture for the upgraded 2023 HR-V could undoubtedly be confused with an outline on a vacation card, however, it’s our first gander at the updated little SUV that will go at a bargain in the US in the not so distant future.
The new HR-V 2023 will supplant the maturing current-age model that has been around starting around 2014. It doesn’t seem to impart the body to the European market HR-V half breed that was uncovered last year, recommending that the US model will be greater. It could be based on the Civic platform, which would be a departure from the current model’s Fit-based foundation.
We suspect that the HR-V’s powertrain will also mirror the latest Civic, with a choice of 2.0-liter 2.0-liter and 180-hp turbo 1.5-liter inline-four engines. A hybrid could join the lineup, too.
Either front-wheel or all-wheel drive will be available, along with an automatic CVT. Any of these combinations would be a welcome upgrade over the HR-V’s low-powered 1.8-liter inline-four engine with just 141 horsepower.
Honda HRV 2024 New Model

The Honda HR-V 2023 debuted later this year, and here are the first official teaser images of the new model. The automaker has dubbed this the “Year of the Crossover.”
These are simply photos of the new HR-V, however, it’s as yet conceivable to make a few determinations about the styling. The front end is more forceful than the current model with a more articulated lower belt, and the dark components in the corners are maybe more for show than the real channel. The grille in the focal point of the HR-V’s face has an octagonal shape with an S-formed lattice design.
The headlights have a more square shape than the current HR-V (see examination underneath). The lights are on the raised front end, and the other hood is lower.
At the rear, the new HR-V appears to have a steeper rake for the rear pillar which might give the model a slimmer look. The new taillights have smoother, less angular lines than the existing model. The revised bumper moves the reflector higher and adds an element of body color near ground level.
The HR-V for the North American market is different from the versions available in other markets. In a statement from early 2021, Honda said: “This new HR-V will be designed to meet the different needs of US customers, and will differ from the Honda Vezel/HR-V that will be introduced in other regions.”
With Fit leaving the lineup in the United States for the 2020 model year, Honda is repositioning the HR-V and Civic Hatchback as entry points into the brand’s lineup. The automaker even decided to ramp up production of the HR-V. It was a smart decision as there will be 137,090 deliveries in 2021, which is a 63.1 percent jump from 2020.
Honda’s teaser offers absolutely no technical details about the new HR-V, nor are there any images of the cabin. Given the 2023 model year, expect the latest generation of crossovers in the US to debut in the first half of this year.

2023 Honda HRV Rendering
This week’sHonda shows an artist rendering of the Honda HR-V subcompact crossover. The 2023 HR-V will continue to be Honda’s smallest vehicle and offer “enhanced versatility, style and performance; The new HR-V will have a greater role as an aspirational vehicle and gateway to the Honda brand,” said a Honda executive.
The HR-V will launch in the first half of 2022, as the 2023 model, followed by new versions of every Honda SUV except the Honda Passport. This year there will also be a new Honda Accord.
At Tuesday’s briefing, Honda also outlined its plans for electrification. It calls for the adoption of hybrid models shortly, the introduction of EVs, and an upgrade to 100% electric by 2040. Some automakers say they will be fully electric by 2035 or sooner.
Honda had no plans to use plug-in hybrids as a bridge to full electrification, and it dropped the company’s only plug-in and fuel cell electric vehicle, the Honda Clarity.
Based on a pair of renderings released by Honda, the car looks slimmer and more aerodynamic than the second-generation, 2016-2022, Honda Fit, which measures 170 inches long and has an EPA0 rating of 30 mph overall.
The HR-V 2023 will likely continue with Honda Magic folding seats. In addition, the fold-flat configuration allows for one large cargo space and seating for two, the bottom of the second row of seats folds down, like a cinema seat, allowing for carrying tall items such as bicycles or plants in an upright manner.
The HR-V is also expected to get newer technology including driver assistance. The HR-V currently has adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist, but only on the top two trim lines. There’s no blind-spot warning, instead, the 2022 Fit offers the Honda LaneWatch, a rear-facing camera that displays a passenger-side-only rear view in the center stack view, and the driver measures location based on three lines indicating safe, careful, or not-changing lanes.
Honda notes that even in the last year of the HR-V’s current life, it was the leading seller in the subcompact SUV class with 137,090 sales, according to Market Intelligence, followed by the Subaru Crosstrek, Hyundai Kona, Nissan Kicks, and Kia. Soul.
All artist renderings show the car is slimmer and inferior to what’s being sold, so it’s unclear how much of a visual change there will be in 2023. Also TBD: Will the new HR-V use the core design of the 2022 Honda Civic, Forbes Wheel Sedan of the Year for 2022, which is about 10 inches long? And will the Civic use a 158-horsepower and 180-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine? The outgoing HR-V limps at 141 horsepower and is built on the chassis of the now-defunct Honda Fit hatchback. But, as Honda notes, it’s enough to sell more than a more valuable vehicle like the Subaru Crosstrek.
2024 Honda HRV Interior
Then about the interior configuration. It is believed that it carries a flexible five-seat format to make it easier for passengers to get in and out. And this is still a mystery. There is no information about the cabin arrangement. It is hoped that the dashboard will follow the current global model. The head unit floats in the middle with various connections to the device.
The shape is flatter and minimalist, but still pleasing to the eye, and has a premium feel. No technical details have been disclosed yet. Expectations of the American HR-V will share the engine with the Honda Civic.
For example, the 2.0-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder is naturally aspirated, 150 HP power. Or another option is a 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo engine, similar to what the siblings have. All power is ensured using a CVT-type transmission. Dispensing is proven to be soft, smooth, responsive, and durable. To add to the fun of driving, there will be a paddle shift like the existing model.
Then the type of motion, like the previous model. There are front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive an option. Finally, a chance hybrid model e: HEV is also expected to be available in the future to be more environmentally friendly
2024 Honda HR-V Type R
The Honda ZR-V, which is the new name for the Japanese automaker, isn’t really that new in certain areas. And this is because it doubles as the newest HR-V in North America and China.
Seemingly poised to make our heads spin and cause some major nausea, Honda has decided it was a much better idea to separate the HR-V into two separate entities. One is the global third generation of the subcompact crossover SUV and the other is the new American and Chinese B-Class ZR-V/HR-V which is as compact as the traditional holder in this segment, the all-new CR-V.
Automakers think that the more crossovers, the merrier, and thus we now have an eleventh-generation Civic-based HR-V running alongside the traditional CR-V in the United States. And with the emergence of the sixth-generation Civic Type R, it quickly gave people an idea. So here are the good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube imagining a CGI look at the unreleased and yet-to-be-announced HR-V Type R performance CUV.
For them and their pixel masters – who also make the Honda Accord digital performance sedan and the 2024 CR-V Type R and CUV – the first HR-V Type R really makes more sense than the other two, since the latter is directly based on the Civic. latest, like the real-world Type R. And with the two weighing about the same, potential heart surgery and transmission would hypothetically make performance transplants a breeze.
Well, it would be nice to dream it up, at least, maybe complete with the Japanese Civic Type R’s power level of 326 horsepower instead of the lower global rating of 315 hp, along with all the fancy color options. Unfortunately, remember this is just wishful thinking and we need to take it with a grain of salt too.

2024 Honda HRV Hybrid
Honda has never gone all-in on a plug-in hybrid, which provides 10 to 50 miles of battery power before switching to a petrol engine. Honda is ending production of the plug-in and hydrogen fuel cell Honda Clarity sedan but with enough stock to be available until 2022.
According to Jessica Fini, senior PR manager for Honda in the US, “It is important to remember that when you talk about electrification, the goal is not to change what powers vehicles, from internal combustion to batteries, but our goal is to achieve that. carbon neutrality, of our entire business.” Honda notes that it has the highest average fuel economy and lowest emissions of any full-line manufacturer, which leaves the likes of Tesla behind.
Honda plans to present a new EV, the Honda Prologue 2024, next year or in early 2024. The car will use GM’s Ultrium battery technology. Later Honda EV will use Honda’s battery technology.
2024 Honda HRV Europe
We were thrilled when Honda introduced the new Euro-market HR-V (known in some parts of the world as the Vezel), but Honda quickly told us to calm down—it’s not a subcompact HR-V. we’re looking for.
The US, Honda tells us, will be getting the new HR-V on its way. Not to quip our friends at Honda, but every time an automaker tells us something like this—any one of them, not just Honda—we have to wonder if we’re not being put off.
Honda released sketches of the North American market of the 2023 HR-V (actually, they look like paintings, which is kind of cool). And no, we’re not put off—it’s a different vehicle. Look at the back door, and what do you see? Door handle on the body. The new Euro-HR-V/Vezel has rear door handles hidden in the door pillars, much like the current (and soon-to-be-released) HR-V.
From what the paint sketches show, North America won the HR-V lottery because if the real thing looked anything like it would be a much cuter creature than the HR-V going to Europe. We love the big black grille—a bit like a Kia, from the days when former Audi designer Peter Schreyer tried to make all his Kias look like Audi.
It certainly looks better than the chrome confusion of the larger CR-V. (Honda has a new CR-V coming up for 2023, and we hope it looks good.) Speaking of Audi (which we used to be, right?), the HR-V’s rounded rear bears some resemblance to that. from the Audi Q3.
We hope the majestic exterior style is an indicator of what we’ll see inside. We preferred the HR-V, and we always thought the more luxurious versions would suit buyers.
And what lurks beneath that handsome skin? Honda’s two-sentence statement accompanying the sketch did little to help. As a rule, we don’t copy and paste press releases, but we will make an exception, given the dearth of other info here: “Honda kicked off its Crossover Year with a peek at the all-new sporty and versatile model. 2023 HR-V.
The new HRV will launch in America North this year.” Okay, so it doesn’t yield any information. If we had to guess—which, of course, we know—we would predict that one of the new HR-V’s powertrains would be the 212-hp hybrid powertrain of the Euro-market HR-V, which is based around the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine.
We’re assuming there will be a non-hybrid version, and as we’ve been complaining about the current HR-V’s relaxed acceleration, it wouldn’t surprise us if the 1.8-liter engine was replaced with something a little bolder, perhaps a 2.0 engine.
The naturally-aspirated liter engine from the entry-level Civic and (if we’re lucky) Honda’s 1.5-liter turbo, is also found in the spectacular new Civic.
The fact that the sketch shows the HR-V streaking through the snow with a snowboard strapped to a roof rack suggests an all-wheel-drive option. That may seem like a no-brainer for an SUV, but remember that some entry-level sport-utes (Toyota CH-R and Nissan Kicks, to name two) don’t offer AWD; Today’s HR-V does offer AWD.
Whatever the look of the last HR-V and whatever the configuration, this teaser has done its job: We’re excited to see what the original will look like.

Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but we expect the 2024 model to start approaching the current HR-V priced at $25,045 with a view to that.
