While this SUV is intended for mid-life modifications only, Honda has updated its passport philosophy with a tougher look inspired by the Ridgeline pickup.
New Honda Passport 2023 Review
The Honda Passport 2023 is a newly updated mid-sized SUV with spacious rooms, a very smooth V6 and a very spacious cargo area for five people. Behind the rear seats, there is more than 41 cubic meters of luggage space.
This is enough room for an SUV of this size easy to drive and with an impressive list of standard safety and comfort features, the 2023 Passport heads into the new model year with relatively few changes.
We look forward to a wider list of new colors, minor option package changes, and possibly the addition of Honda Performance Development (HPD).
Mod 2023 will be somewhat limited because Passport 2022 will bring a lot of changes. Specifically, it’s a new off-road themed trail sports model with a more rugged look and mostly cosmetic.
The Passport 2023 remains a family-friendly SUV, demonstrating its strong relationship with the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck. Perhaps the 2023 Trailsport will get some true off-road upgrades to enhance its rugged looks.
Under the hood of the Honda Passport 2023 will feature a 280hp V6 engine with a choice of a 9-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It’s a smooth and efficient powertrain that has enough grunt for highway cruising, not to mention considerable traction.
Passport 2023 costs a lot of money, but the quality and interior layout proves that this is a sports machine designed to last.
Direct rivals to the Honda Passport include the Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevrolet Traverse, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Subaru Ascent.
2023 Honda Passport Redesign: Will There Be A 2023 Honda Passport
The Honda Passport is expected to see its next update in 2022. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has yet to confirm whether there will be a redesign.
Rumor has it that the next-generation Passport could get a more rugged look similar to the latest version of the Ridgeline mid-size pickup. Around the same time, the larger Honda Pilot SUV could also receive a major update.
The passport nameplate dates back to the late 90s, but the current model debuted in the 2019 model year as a second-line alternative to the Pilot. Boasting a powerful 280-horsepower V6 engine and a surprisingly good amount of cargo space, the Passport starts at $34,015 on purpose, slightly more than the $33,775 MSRP of the cheapest 2021 Pilot LX.

If the next Passport is indeed redesigned, we could see a release date sometime in 2022. We’ll update this page as information becomes available, so stay tuned. Look through the camouflage and you’ll definitely see that Honda’s designers have given the Passport a new grille with a mesh design not unlike the rugged Honda Ridgeline HPD.
Additionally, the facelifted Passport includes a new thicker front bumper and redesigned turn signal and fog lamps. Honda will continue to modify the rear with a new bumper and a larger round exhaust. It retains the same general shape as the current model, but also has a new red taillight lens.
This spy shot comes months after it was revealed that Honda had applied for a trademark for the “Trailsport” name and logo, and has fueled speculation that Honda is planning a series of off-road variants focused on the new model.
The Passport could be one of them, and this spy shot is likely a Trailsport variant.
2023 Honda Passport Engine
The Honda Passport was most recently updated for the 2021 model year with several new technological features, including an 8-inch infotainment system that replaces the old 5-inch screen.
All current variants are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 with 280 hp and 262 lb-ft (355 Nm) of torque and most likely, the 2022 Passport will retain the same engine.
2023 Honda Passport Trailsport
Honda has announced that it will be launching a new performance-focused off-road TrailSport trim line, and the first TrailSport model has now arrived with the facelifted Honda Passport 2022.
Along with the new all-terrain version, all 2022 Passports will get an updated front fascia, new wheels and more standard safety technology.
Visual changes The Passport mostly takes place in front of the A-pillar, replacing the previous model’s somewhat hazy face with a bulldog face reminiscent of a Ridgeline pickup.
The rear bumper has been slightly modified and the 2022 Passport is also available with an HPD accessory pack that redesigns the grille and wheels and adds black fender flares and HPD graphics.
The new Passport TrailSport, the only version of the 2022 Passport Honda has shown to date, receives a unique grille design, bold front and rear bumpers, and orange TrailSport badges all over. The track has been widened by 0.4 inches at the front and rear for added stability, and the 18-inch wheels are wrapped in special TrailSport 245/60R18 tires.

The TrailSport uses Honda’s iVTM4 torque vector all-wheel drive and intelligent traction management for off-road driving. The interior features contrasting orange stitching, TrailSport logo, and yellow ambient lighting.
The All 2022 Passport is still powered by the same 3.5-liter V6 engine, producing 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The iVTM4 torque vectoring system, which is standard on the TrailSport and Elite, is now also optionally available on the EXL.
Honda says all Passports now have 8.1 inches of ground clearance, and the EXL and Elite models have new 20-inch wheel designs. Honda says that the Passport TrailSport is the first in a new model series to focus on offroad and that the future could bring bigger upgrades such as bigger tires and a revised suspension.
In the interior comfort and safety department, there’s a standard 8.0-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, plus a Honda Sensing driver assistance feature system, also standard.
The rear seat reminder will tell the driver to check the rear seat for children, pets, and anything else when turning off the crossover, and the rear seat belt reminder notifies the driver if the rear passenger is not strapped; both warning systems are standard.
2023 Honda Passport Hybrid
So far, we have not been able to confirm that the 2023 Honda Passport will issue a Hybrid version in its lineup. However, it will be a new sensation in the 2023 Honda Passport Hybrid market which can be confirmed by the enthusiasm of Hybrid Car fans.
2023 Honda Passport Price
We expect prices to start at around $38,000 for the entry-level Honda Passport 2023 in front-wheel-drive format.
This is higher than some competing models such as the Mazda CX9 3line and Kia Telluride. To be fair, the basic Passport 2023 has a few features that cost more than many of its direct competitors.
The 2023 Honda Passport Trailsport is expected to cost around $43,000, with the highest-range Elite model approaching $46,000.
