2019 Honda Insight Previews When Honda first redesigned the Insight, it tried the same recipe that had vaulted the vaunted Prius to the top of the hybrid sales card. This approach did not lead to success. Now Honda is releasing it again. This time, the company is normalizing the insight, installing its latest 2-engine hybrid drive in a 5-passenger compact sedan that is undeniably stylish.
Honda’s collection car will be used in the third generation with a 2-engine hybrid powertrain. It consists of a 1.5-liter Atkinson Cycle 4-cylinder engine, which mainly serves as an onboard generator, electric drive motor, and lithium-ion battery pack.
Honda promises fuel efficiency that’s competitive with the segment’s best vehicles, and that means it gets more than 50mpg in combined driving. One reason is that Honda expects the car to run only on electric power in most driving conditions.
Honda also says the new Insight will deliver “class-leading performance ” and “refined driving performance .”
