Honda Civic Type R 2022
Honda Civic Type R 2022 Last year, we learned that Honda would complete the production of the Honda Civic hatchback in England in 2021, and that production would move to North America for the next generation.
This means that we may only be a few years away from the new models being revealed.
It seems increasingly possible now that the 2022 generation Honda Civic Type R has been captured by one of our spy photographers.
The Honda Civic Type R barely gets stale, but it seems Honda is already working on the next version of extreme hot hatchbacks.
These spy photos show the Civic prototype which has clear wings and aggressive wheels and tires of Type R.
And, ignoring the surly camouflage that seeks to make the front end look like a BMW-Esque, this seems to be our first glance at all the new-11th generation Civic that will start arriving later this year.
This maintains several Type R basics of the current model. It has a very wide bodywork, black mesh grille, aggressive front fascia, and of course a giant rear wing. But there are some big changes too. The body looks lower and longer.
Hatches have softer offspring to a fat deck and lose split rear windows. All of these gestures give a bit of a coupe-like appearance.
The surface of the car is also cleaner, and the rear bumper looks pretty much without fake ventilation, although there are provisions for the middle exhaust tip.
Back to the front, the headlights look lower and don’t sweep back, but they still have an LED arrangement similar to today’s cars.
2022 Honda Civic Type R News
Honda engineers are testing the next generation of the Civic Type R. Cars are now favorites here at the Motor Authority, so engineers have a solid foundation for preparing redesigned models.
The current generation of Civic arrives for the 2016 model and brings with it a new platform that is likely to be upgraded for the redesigned Civic which is expected to be introduced next year as a 2022 model.
Given the advanced stages of the Civic Type R prototype, the hot hatch must arrive next to the regular model.

The proportion of the new Civic Type R looks similar to the current generation, although the shape like the current car slice seems to have softened for the new one.
The rear wing also looks smaller, giving the car a more mature look.
New lights on both ends and there is a hole in the center of the rear fascia that is likely to be fitted to the exhaust tip, like in today’s cars. The single exhaust tip seen on this prototype is only a temporary unit.
2022 Honda Civic Type R Spy Shot
Our spy photographer has captured the prototype of an upcoming hot hatch on the road, which clearly shows that Type R will be getting bigger.
The wheelbase looks longer than the current model, while the front overhangs are also more prominent.
Although still highly disguised, changes in style appear to be evolutionary; This mule shares the same fastback silhouette, large rear wing, and wide front splitter as the model comes out.

At the rear, a more horizontal tail light appears, while the offset muffler will be replaced by the center-out unit on the production model, as shown by the cut-out on the rear bumper.
Our spies can also catch a glimpse of the interior, which shows a new steering wheel and a spiked touch screen for infotainment display.
The instrument cluster is also expected to be new and fully digital, offering more customization options than ever before.
2022 Honda Civic Type R Electric
At first glance, it is possible that the Honda Civic Type R 2022 will not become a hybrid, even though recent reports are stating the opposite.
Although it looks like the Civic Type R FK8 has now been launched a long time ago, a new generation model is being worked on and recently spied on testing.
When the spy shot arose, it was claimed the hot hatch would continue to use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder to power the front wheels but also had two electric motors that drive the rear wheels.

While Honda’s range is shifting towards electrification, the next Type R isn’t.
The Japanese company recently clarified its EV strategy by announcing that it aims to electrify only the ‘mainstream’ European line-up by 2022.
2022 Honda Civic Type R Redesign
In this section, we hope that the new Civic will in the end look a bit more tortured than its predecessor, although because of camouflage it is difficult to know whether it sports a finer line or not.
The proportions do look a little lower and wider in these photos.
Honda tends to switch between revolution and evolution for successive Civic generations, so since the 10th generation model is a wise-looking departure, we don’t think the 11th generation will shake the boat too much in terms of design.
Although we saw this Type R model before other versions of the new Civic, we suspect that more information will soon come out about the lower Civic.

When Honda didn’t want to do it, the company might show a “concept” version of the Civic that was truly a veiled production car.
The new Civic 2021 sedan and coupe might arrive shortly after this fall if everything stays on track.
Since the yellow Type R Special Edition model has been designated as the 2021 model, we might not see a new hatch until next year when it arrives as the 2022 model.
2022 Honda Civic Type R Interior
We also get a glimpse of the interior. Now there is a screen sticking out of the dashboard.
It doesn’t look integrated with the car now. If that means we finally get newer and better infotainment from Honda like that on the Accord, it will be in vain.
Also, there are still volume buttons, and they look bigger than they are on the current model.
We can also see the trademark red chairs produce returns.
We also look inside. Both the steering wheel and dashboard designs are new, with designers choosing separate screens mounted at the top of the middle stack for infotainment instead of integrated units as in the current generation.

The shape of the new Type R hatchback doesn’t seem to be much different, but the re-shaped headlights and taillights give it a new model.
We can also see that the interior looks very different, with a new steering wheel design and tablet infotainment display that stands out from the dashboard.
2022 Honda Civic Type R Exterior
Looking closely, it seems that Type R will continue to be the front-wheel drive. We can see a little rear suspension and the mounting point, and we don’t see evidence or rear drive axle.
The muffler also seems to flow to the middle, where the rear driveshaft must be traversed. Although we cannot see the actual width of the tire, the tire looks wider than 245 mm in the 2020 car.
We hope the car will continue to be turbocharged, but it is difficult to say with certainty whether to use the latest version of the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, or a completely new design and displacement.
2022 Honda Civic Type R Engine
It is unclear what mechanical mod is planned, but we can expect the current 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 version to be placed under the hood of this prototype, perhaps with more than 306 horsepower at present and 295 pound-feet of torque.
The 6-speed manual and front-wheel drive are likely to become standard on the new Civic Type R, and some form of electrification is also possible.
2022 Honda Civic Type R Price and Release Date
With the current production of the Honda Civic hatchback in England in 2021, we would expect the next generation of cars to be displayed at the same time, then the 2022 model year.
Further supporting this timeline is that the current generation of Civic will be five years old, which has been introduced for the 2016 model.
That will make it one of the older cars in this segment, and it’s ready to be replaced.
Honda will reveal the next-generation Civic at the end of 2021, with a hot Type R model to follow in early 2022.
For the price issue, we have not been able to inform it because there is no official information from Honda.
We will continue to monitor and update the latest information on this website. Hopefully, the information we provide can give you new knowledge about the Honda Civic Type R 2022. Cheers!
