But since Honda made smart changes to the Odyssey as part of the 2021 facelift, updates like new standard safety gear and standard second-row seats that fold almost flat make this minivan a better contender since we last compared it to the Pacifica. Competing in recent four-car minivan comparisons, the Odyssey’s excellent powertrain and easy third-row access won praise, but its outdated infotainment system and tricky third-row folding kept it out of first place.
Each Odyssey is powered by the same 3.5-liter Honda V-6 that makes 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the Sienna and Pacifica, there are no hybrid options available and neither is AWD; all Odysseys transmit power through the front wheels with the help of a 10-speed automatic transmission.
When we tested an Odyssey for our 2018 Car of the Year competition, it hit 60 mph in 6.6 seconds. The EPA fuel economy figure reads 19/28 mpg city/highway.
