2022 Honda Pilot Redesign: All-New Pilot Redesign Explanation Detail

Posted on

2022 Honda Pilot Redesign The Honda 2022 pilot carried the same generation that existed five years ago, making it one of the oldest three-row crossovers on the market.

Considering how many new or impressive redesigned entries have been introduced since it’s surprising that the Pilot managed to remain as relevant as it did.

Although of course it is overshadowed, this is still a very practical choice blessed with plenty of smart storage, sufficient cargo capacity, and a well-sorted driving experience that makes the line between comfort and response.

There is also a matter of Honda’s old reputation for reliability and resale value.

2022 Honda Pilot Redesign

The Pilot can be considered the most reasonable three-row family crossover (although the Subaru Ascent is very close). Of course, “making sense” is often not the same as “desirable” as can be proven by plain black running shoemakers.

The pilot is rather shabby to look at, and the rather plain interior design does not reach the height of luxury near the Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, Toyota Highlander, or Mazda CX-9.

Even the pilot passenger triplets, Passport, managed to be a little cooler. But such things are in the eye of the beholder.

While we think of Telluride and Palisade, in particular, is a stronger overall choice, Pilots are a comprehensive crossover that will make sense for many families.

The nine-speed automatic transmission that was previously exclusive to the top trim is now standard across the board (it’s a good thing Honda has finally succeeded in clearing the nine-speed tilt performance from the previous year’s model).

The LX base gets several additional standard features, including dual-zone automatic climate control, and a new Special Edition trims level debut.

The length of a tool that Honda pulled towards the end of the age of the car generation, “SE” as it was also known to effectively add a few different style bits and some additional features on the EX-L trim level.

One final addition to 2022: Pilot Black Edition can now be painted white, which makes sense.

2022 Honda Pilot Interior

In the interior of the 2022 Honda Pilot can be seen even though the cow’s blood-red accent in the Black Edition is very influential, we still won’t call the most stylish Pilot cabin out there.

A Mazda CX-9, Hyundai Palisade, Kia Telluride, and Toyota Highlander can make it look pretty innocent.

However, it is also one of the nicest and functional cabins in this segment, mostly intended with the aim of making parents’ lives easier.

As we found in this interior test, there are trash bins everywhere on the front, including a giant trash center big enough to hide your wallet or other valuables.

Better yet, the flat roll cover provides extra storage because there is no need to serve double duty as an armrest (there is a minivan-style armrest attached to each front seat).

There are also several levels of trash cans on the door and in the middle stack.

Technology is not executed properly. Yes, there are many features included with everything except the more basic LX, but the touch screen that controls it can be frustrating.

The addition of the new UI last year with faster response and volume knob was welcomed, but there were still many shortcomings: inadequate menu buttons, no tuning knobs and/or direct tone functions, and excessive processes for switching between Honda and Apple / Android interfaces just a few annoyances.

Some of these issues were discussed in Accord and Odyssey, but Pilots remained with imperfect old/new hybrids. If there is a reason to contemplate something other than the Pilot, this must be it.

2022 Honda Pilot Exterior

In this section, we appreciate Honda for doing an extraordinary job of getting the most interior space from as many pilots as possible.

Although the exterior dimensions are the smallest in the segment, the interiors are among the most functional and spatial.

The second-row space is usually generous, while the third row has enough leg and headroom for full-size adults and teens. These seats are mainly lower than those in Palisade, Telluride, and Chevrolet Traverse, so in the end, it’s not that comfortable.

However, the roofline and rear window are quite square, so the possibility of feeling cramped is reduced.

The cargo capacity is very good, even if it seems to be slightly below average on paper.

Most notably, Pilots can load as many suitcases as possible behind a third row such as the Palisade even though it is thought to have less space.

This is thanks to the smart floor, which can fall several inches. This is also two-sided: one carpet, the other textured plastic for dirty goods.

Remember that if you don’t need that much space, a Honda Passport is a two-row, five-passenger pilot.

2022 Honda Pilot Engine

The 2022 Honda Pilot comes standard with a good 3.5 liter V6 for 280 horsepower and 262 pound-foot torque.

Front-wheel drive is also standard on all trims but the Elite and Black Editions, which are standard with all optional i-VTM4 advanced vector wheel drive systems in all other trims.

For 2022, things are simpler thanks to the nine-speed automatic transmission that becomes standard at every trim level.

Thus, fuel savings no longer depend on the trim level. City of 20 mpg, highway 27 mpg, and 23 mpg combined with FWD and 19/26/22 with AWD.

The pilot provides a comfortable and quiet ride, handling and steering inspire, and the smooth engine has more than enough power.

Its advanced torque-vector all-wheel-drive system even improves road restraints alongside bad weather traction. This clears the slats for the segment.

That said, the pilot is also not quite behind the wheel. It’s almost like a minivan in an SUV suit.

Although it is a little more involved than the Subaru Ascent, it is also not the best choice for those who hope to maintain the involvement of drivers from their extended family vehicles.

The Mazda CX-9 will be a far better choice for it, while even the new Toyota Highlander brings more responsiveness and communication to the driver.

We won’t say that the Kia Telluride or the Hyundai Palisade is very easy to remember, but there is something about them (maybe it’s just style) that manages to avoid the vibrations of the minivan.

2022 Honda Pilot Price and Release Date

Until now, Honda Pilot buyers had to choose one of two Touring or Elite trim level variants to get an incredible nine-speed automatic transmission; the bottom trim has a speed of six.

For 2022, the possibility of a nine-speed automatic type is now standard in the Pilot range, starting with $ 34,370 entry-level LX. The initial price is a $ 600 jump from the year the model came out.

Paddle shifters, two-zone climate control, and stop-start systems have also become standard for 2022.

In 2022, Pilots also saw the addition of Special Edition (SE) trims between EX-L levels and Touring trims, which start at $ 41,080. The SE is built on the EX-L and includes a 20-inch black wheel, foot-activated power tailgate, and wireless charger.

The price for adding an all-wheel-drive to one of the trims has increased by $ 100 to $ 2000.

Throughout the trim, price increases vary from around $ 300 to $ 500, because Honda did not make any major changes to the SUV.

The V-6 engine, which produces 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, remains in the Pilot. This is all still just estimation.

And for the release schedule until now we do not know for sure when the 2022 Honda Pilot will be present, we will continue to monitor the latest developments and we will update on this website.
