The long journey towards the arrival of the 11th generation Honda Civic continues with the first official photos of the sedan in its final production form. With basically the same styling as the Civic prototype shown last year except for a few minor changes, this new model looks a lot better than its predecessor.
We still don’t see what the Civic 2022’s interior will look like, aside from the teaser sketches. Honda says that the full specs and more photos will be shared on April 28.
We expect the new model to feature a carryover engine, meaning a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder as the base engine and a more powerful 1.5-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine. as an option.
The manual transmission will likely not reappear in the standard Civic but will be offered in the higher-performing Si and Type R models.

2022 Honda Civic Redesign: Everything We Know So Far
Honda on Wednesday gave its first look at the redesigned Civic 2022 sedan that goes on sale this spring. The carmaker teased a prototype version last fall, and we’re happy to report that the production version turned out to be almost identical to the handsome prototype.
There will also be a redesigned Civic Hatchback (shown below) arriving months after the sedan, with a more practical body style to once again form the basis of the flagship performance of the Civic Type R. However, the coupe body styling will not return, due to the waning popularity of the current generation.
The Civic appears to have adopted a more mature look for its latest redesign, and its proportions, with the low hood and cabin, pushed backward, trust the foundation of the car’s front-wheel drive. It’s not just for looks, remember. For example, by moving the A-pillar further back than the driver, Honda says visibility has been increased.
The interior, shown in a teaser sketch, follows a more mature exterior theme by combining a clean and tidy look with the latest technology. We’re talking about a digital instrument cluster, plus a 9.0-inch touchscreen for infotainment. An interesting feature is the mesh strip that runs the dashboard, which hides the air vents.
A stiffer version of the current Civic platform supports the new generation. That means powertrains are less likely to get carried away. The Civic is currently content with 1.5- and 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4s. The 1.5-liter engine in the Civic Si produces 205 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque, and the 2.0-liter engine in the Civic Type R delivers 306 hp and 295 lb-ft.

What can you gain from these droplets that you don’t know yet? If you’re a fan of the recently restrained Civic redesign, like me, you may have noticed that the flat lines on the fascia accentuate the width in a way that makes the rest of the body appear proportionate.
The same flat beltline looks great too, though it ends if that weird kick becomes the pinch of C-pillar that every sedan today seems to weigh down on. Overall, there is a genuine quality of the car which I find refreshing.
On the other hand, if you’re one of the many commenters here who call it plain or awkward on past stories, you will probably point out that the image was taken with a zoom lens which helps a lot to flatten it out. distended nose.
I’ve never been the one to pocket the swipes and corners of a Civic these days, even at the extreme the Type R drives, but that’s also because as always, it remains a fun and competent driver and one of the best values on the market. Before Honda decided that we Americans were finally worthy of the almighty Type R, Si was the hottest Civic we had. Now, this is an attractive middle ground between the sharp turbocharged Civic standard and Type R, and that is financially affordable for only $ 25,930.
What is not liked? The Civic Si 2022 is fast, practical, cohesive, and easily accessible, but it has one significant drawback that might make me not sit in the driver’s seat.
2022 Honda Civic Spyshot

The design is practically identical to the prototype from November 2020. The headlights and taillights differ only slightly, but the overall proportions are the same.
A filing with the California Air Resources Council has confirmed that the 11th generation Civic in the US remains available with either a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. It is unclear whether the output for either of them will change. CVT will be the only gearbox option.
The Civic will be available in a sedan body model and a five-door hatchback. There will also be a Civic Si sedan. The coupe is dead. Later, the new Civic Type R will be here.
Rumors suggest that the next-generation CTR would be the last Honda in Europe to have a combustion engine without any electric assistance or being a pure EV. The 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine is thought to have a slight increase in output over the current 316 horsepower (236 kilowatts) and has improved the responsiveness of the turbo.

First, I need to touch everything there is to love this sweet little sports sedan. There are some changes for the 2022 model that are improving on the platform that is already preferred.
The new headlamps and LED fog lights, both from the Civic Type R, look premium and illuminate the road better than the old projector.
The revised infotainment settings from last year’s update display the physical volume button and the physical fan speed button; highly valued for easy adjustments when traveling.
There is a final drive ratio of 6 percent shorter which according to Honda increases the sense of acceleration (more at the time) and the standard Honda Sensing active safety features that are not present in other compact sports sedans such as the Jetta GLI.
2022 Honda Civic SI Engine
There is only one power train available for the Civic Si, and this is very good – although the small turbo engine has increased slowness when the speed is low. Manual transmission is very pleasant.
This Si is powered by a 205-hp turbocharged four-cylinder that sends power to a six-speed manual gearbox and then to the front wheels. After you find the torque, zipping inside Si is a gas.
The car is light enough so you rarely want more power – the coupe version we tested ran up to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds – even though some of its competitors offer far more horsepower.
And once you have mastered the springy clutch, the transmission and engine are working well. Si is a rare example of a car that can go like a bit of terror when you want it, but also glides calmly when you don’t.
You will find it very difficult to find another front-wheel-drive car that handles this well. While sharing the basics with a regular Civic, it has a stiffer suspension, standard adaptive dampers, and a refitted steering wheel.
The journey is so smooth over rough roads that you can almost forget that Si was designed for greater things.
Increase the intensity on the back road, and you will be impressed by how flat the angle is and how much feedback comes through the well-weighted steering wheel.
Beyond these new features, pinning Si at the end of your Civic order brings serious hardware upgrades to the standard Civic.
The 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder produces 205 hp and 192 lb-ft of torque (up to 31 hp and 30 lb-ft above the Civic Touring), there is a limited-slip differential between the front wheels, and adjustable two-mode suspension.
The large side roll in the front seat will hug you almost as much as in Type R, and Si is exclusively offered with three pedals and a stick. Despite the shorter final drive ratio, the Civic Si 2022 is no faster than the 2019 example we tested earlier this year.
This new car reaches 60 in 6.8 seconds – 0.2 slower than last year’s car – although it completes a quarter-mile in the same 15.1 seconds at a slightly higher trap speed.
Si has straight-line acceleration figures that are very similar to Civic Touring, which sprints 6.8 seconds 0-60 and quarter miles 15.2 seconds, but the real benefit is at number eight.
Thanks to stronger summer tires and a front differential that produces more power, round number eight on the Civic Si 2022 only takes 25.4 seconds. It’s one second faster around the lane than a standard car.
Even with stability control that cannot be completely defeated and steering that doesn’t communicate with mid-corner as we wanted, Si is a blast around the corner.
The 2021 Honda Civic has been released and will remain exactly the same as 2020, paving the way for the next-generation 2022 Civic.

In theory, the Honda Civic Si 2022 offers the best of both worlds. This is a blast to drive and is rated 26 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA.
In testing our real-world highway fuel economy, the Si coupe produces 36 mpg and the sedan produces an impressive 42 mpg. The first uses optional summer tires, while the second uses standard all-season tires.

The Civic Si infotainment system is light on striking features but has the one we care about most. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, like two USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity with streaming audio. The audio system also has a volume button, which instantly makes it more user-friendly.

Honda initially launched the eleventh-generation Civic in prototype form in November 2020 and is now dropping the production model. This single image should suffice until April 28 when the full gallery will be published along with the technical specifications of the overhauled compact sedan.
Seen here is the flagship Touring trim which looks pretty much the same as the previous Civic Prototype. We saw the addition of fog lights and the removal of glossy black accents.
Instead, the production-ready model has matte black trim on the top and bottom grilles as well as for the air intake trim. The dark side mirrors of the prototype are missing, replaced with a body-colored cap.
Being the most expensive version of the bunch, the Civic Touring 2022 has a sunroof and front parking sensor, which is interestingly positioned because the two inner sensors are actually mounted on the top grille.
The prototype lacks a parking sensor to allow for a cleaner view, although they are so well integrated into the highway model that we can barely see them.
The prototype all-black wheels have made way for the two-tone set while the black trim on the side skirts now comes in the same color as the body. The Touring model gets a chrome window finish in place of the Civic Prototype’s glossy black finish, and that’s all we can see from this angle.
Honda didn’t feature a completely redesigned interior, so the design sketches published when the prototype debuted had to make it to the big debut in two weeks’ time. You can see that from the 5:55 mark in the video below.
Following its world premiere at the end of the month, the Civic 2022 will hit dealers throughout North America this summer. Production will take place at a plant in Indiana where the hatchback will be added to the assembly line a few months later.
This is the first time a five-door model has been built there as a consequence of Honda’s decision to close the Swindon factory in Britain. The plant has been sold to logistics company Panattoni and will be handed over in the coming spring.
While performance-oriented Si and Type R flavors will return, the lineup will be simplified a bit by removing the coupe. We don’t have an exact price for the 2021 Honda Civic, but it’s expected to start at around $ 22,000. Also, it should be available in the same trim levels as the previous generation.
